I was looking through Pacific Crest Trail photos today and came across this. The first photo is from 2011 the second one is from 2012. The spot, 300 ft from the summit of Mt Baden-Powell in the San Gabriel range, of California. After 2,800 feet in 3.6 miles over 41 switchbacks to a saddle 100 feet below the peak, we come to a tree know as the Wally Waldron Tree estimated to be 1500 years old. It’s a popular meeting spot for groups that want to summit together. Both of the years that I was on the trail I met up with friends at this tree. It’s a remarkable tree and some great memories of the pct.
